葛洲坝工程泄水闸是枢纽泄洪、排砂的基本通道,自1981年1月大江截流之后,便取代长江主河槽,渲泄二期工程施工期间的洪水和泥砂。投入运行的当年,恰遇历史实测最大洪峰(入库流量达7l,800米~3/秒),和超出多年平均输沙量(5.26亿吨)达40%的泥沙过闸下泄。众多的泥砂,特别是来自上游的类推移质卵(块)石的滑滚摩擦和跳跃式冲击过闸,使个别闸室和护坦受到了较为严重的冲磨破坏。
The Gezhouba Project sluice gate is the basic channel for flood discharge and sand discharge of the hub. After the river closure in January 1981, it replaced the main channel of the Yangtze River to render flood and silt during the second phase of the project. In the same year when it was put into operation, it met the peak of historical maximum (inflow of 7l, 800m3 / s) and sediment gateage exceeding 40% of the average annual sediment transport (526 million tons). Numerous silt, especially from the upper class of oozes (block) stone sliding friction and jumping shock gate, so that the individual lock chamber and shield suffered more severe erosion damage.
