The code of ethics of journalists is not a law or regulation, nor is it punishable by penalties, but it is a basic principle of safeguarding the essential nature of journalism and guaranteeing the high professional ethics of journalists. Under the guidance of the code of professional ethics, it not only makes journalism work objectively and comprehensively and effectively, but also enhances the social status of the news itself and has created a wide range of public credibility among the public and has drawn long-term concerns from the audience. In the process of continuous learning of the West and exploration of local characteristics, modern Chinese journalists gradually explore the features of journalism with Chinese characteristics. Chinese journalists have also continuously improved the codes of professional ethics built under the traditional value system of China, and The performance is more comprehensive and deeper, which is quite different from the standards of professional ethics of western journalists. This article compares and analyzes the different codes of professional ethics of journalists in China and the United States in the hope of discovering the causes of these differences and providing advice on the formulation of relevant guidelines in the future.
