The sequence music is the most important new type of music in Germany and even in Europe after World War II. Many composers have dared to explore in this field. According to some authoritative foreign literature, the term “music in sequence” appears in the context of German and even European music throughout the late 1940s, not only in the so-called “serialist music” of American music academia Time is defined and there are essential differences in the musical features. In this paper, we mainly take the German serial music representative Composer Stockhausen’s practice and transformation of sequence music creation as an example to explore the production, development and characteristics of German sequence music.
