玉米的产量与品质主要受基因型及种植环境的影响,通过对玉米不同种植密度下的品质与产量进行测定表明,随着种植密度的增加,玉米产量呈先增长后降低的趋势;但在某种种植密度范围内,玉米籽粒所含脂肪、淀粉及蛋白质等的含量,通常在各个不同的成熟阶段呈现不断减少的趋势;而一旦其超过某一种植密度的范围,则在此方面的含量将获得明显提升。所以,可知籽粒中蛋白质、淀粉及脂肪的高含量与低产量密度不对应,而其低含量却和高产密度对应。
