The world is facing daunting challenges these days from a host of factors, sparking debate on whether clash or dialogue, confrontation or cooperation among civilizations will prevail—a question of the times that could determine the future of mankind.
Actively responding to this question, China hosted a number of major home-field diplomatic events in Beijing this spring including the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in late April, the Beijing International Horticultural Expo, which kicked off on April 29 and will last 162 days, and the week-long Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations (CDAC) in May.
Under the theme of “exchanges and mutual learning among Asian civilizations and a community with a shared future,” CDAC invited 1,352 guests from throughout Asia and other countries and international organizations to gather in the Chinese capital to explore Asian solutions to the “question of the times,” discuss mutual learning among civilizations and seek common development and prosperity.
Building a peaceful, open and inclusive Asia—and world—featuring shared prosperity remains a common aspiration of people of all nations.
