应用文阅读研究不可忽视。与文艺阅读比较，应用文阅读有其自身的特质：①应用文读者有特定的指向性；②应用文的阅读目标在于把握内容、获取信息、指导行动；③应用文阅读的一般过程是“披文→得意→及物”，起．点是感言、辨体，重点是入情、会意，终点是致用、笃行；④应用文阅读释义只能一元化，不能误解、漏解和歧解；⑤应用文阅读的心智素养，注重情绪的自我控制和思维的有轨运行；⑥应用文阅读方法的运用，强调精读、略读、快读的互补效应；⑦电脑文化时代向应用文阅读提出新的技术挑战，必须学会印刷文本和电子文本的双向信息摄取。
