The data show that periodic neuromuscular electrical stimulation (cNMES) on hemiplegic and wrist extensors can improve limb function in the upper extremity of subacute and chronic stroke patients. Contralateral Functional Electrical Stimulation (CCFES) is a new type of physical therapy that gives patients the flexibility to stretch their hemiplegic fingers. The patient controls the stimulation parameters in real time by opening or closing the contralateral fingers. The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of periodic neuromuscular electrical stimulation and contralateral functional electrical stimulation on patients with hemiplegia. This parallel controlled study enrolled patients with cerebral hemorrhage or ischemia with a duration of more than six months, and all of these patients had unilateral finger extensor paralysis. For contralateral functional electrical stimulation group of patients
