目前,对肾脏滤过物质分子量大小的研究和分析已为人们重视。临床实验室检查中,对肾功能检查、肾实质病变的指标常以屎为检材,测定所含某些物质的浓度,通常如:测定尿素氮、肌酐等小分子物质和白蛋白等大分子物质。肾脏损害是糖尿病的并发症之一,早期发现甚为重要。近年来,在探讨早期发观肾损伤的指标上已有新的进展。如:测定β_2微球蛋白(β_2M)、α_1微球蛋白(α_1M)、视黄醇结合蛋白(RBP)等较小分子蛋白质。
