3000多年前,中国就已经有了伞。最初的伞是用羽毛做的,后来逐渐被罗绢、油纸替代。西湖多雨,就有了一种以湖命名的伞———西湖绸伞。自1932年出现以来,西湖绸伞曾经风行于江浙一带。上世纪70年代,开始淡出世人视线,其功能转变为工艺伞。小小的伞,不但为人们撑起了一方小小天空,也制造了无数浪漫至极的感人故事。现代诗人戴望舒在《雨巷》中,如此写道:撑着油纸伞,独自/彷徨在悠长、悠长/又寂寥的雨巷/我希望逢着/一个丁香一样的/结着愁怨的姑娘/……如今,伞已不再是传统意义的遮风挡雨工具。烟雨江南,衍生出独特的伞文化,伞的审美、伞的诗意和伞的象征意蕴,伴随这历史发展的车轮,碾压出一道道独特的文化轨迹。
