The PBFA z is a current driver for the Z-pinch at Sandia National Laboratories. Its pulsed power design is a monopulse Marx generator based on early saturn and PBFA II accelerators, waterline forming technology. PBFA Z uses 36 Marx generators to store 11.4 MJ of energy, couples 5 MJ of energy into the waterline with a pulse of 60 TW / 105 ns, and delivers 50 TW, 3.0 MJ of power to the z pinch load Go up.
