Objective: To compare the clinical effects of anatomical complete dentures and lingual central complete dentures. Methods: Sixty-two patients with severe alveolar ridge resorption in our hospital from 2012 to 2013 were selected and divided into two groups. The total denture was made using anatomical ridges and tongue-shaped central ridges, respectively, at 3,6 At 12 months, the chewing efficiency of the two groups was tested by absorbance method. At 3 months, the patients completed the questionnaire of complete denture satisfaction. Five items of esthetic degree, chewing function, retention function, voice function, comfort and so on Content rating. SPSS12.0 software was used to test the results for statistical analysis. Results: The masticatory efficacies of the complete denture of the tongue-centered central dentition were significantly better than those of the anatomical complete denture (P <0.05) at the same mastication time at 6 months, 6 months and 12 months. There was significant difference in satisfaction between masticatory function and retention function in the two groups (P <0.05), while there was no difference in other aspects. CONCLUSIONS: For patients with missing dentition with severe absorption of alveolar ridge, the application of tongue-centered type complete denture can improve the masticatory efficiency and retention stability, and patients are satisfied.
