Since the National Academy of Sciences published in 1966 an important document entitled “Trauma, accidental death and disability, diseases that are not concerned by society at present”, in many areas of the United States, the pre-hospital rescue work for patients with emergency injuries has changed significantly. These changes should be attributed to the concerted efforts of local physicians and people from all walks of life for emergency trauma patients, and they are also promoted by private funds and financial support from the federal government (Ministry of Transport and Health, Education, and Welfare). This is due to the improvement of emergency ambulance service, training of emergency technicians, central dispatch and the development of radio communication between ambulance personnel and hospital doctors.
