Objective To investigate the significance of CD4 + CD25high regulatory T lymphocytes in the occurrence and development of ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Methods Flow cytometry was used to detect CD4 + CD25high regulatory T lymphocytes (PBMC) and human leukocyte antigen B27 (HLA-B27) in peripheral blood of 40 patients with AS (AS group) and 20 healthy controls (control group) , ESR, C-reactive protein levels, and compared. Results The expression of CD4 + CD25high regulatory T lymphocytes (11.41 ± 3.69%) in peripheral blood of HLAB27 positive AS group was significantly higher than that of control group (8.78 ± 2.84)% (P <0.01). The levels of ESR (14.54 ± 9.10) mm / h and C-reactive protein in AS group were (8.55 ± 5.56) mm / h and (3.39 ± 2.32) mg / L) (P <0.01). Conclusion The percentage of CD4 + CD25high regulatory T lymphocytes in peripheral blood of HLA-B27-positive AS patients is increased, which may be related to the progression of AS disease.
