A three-year key project in Toronto, Canada and Canada will start in 1990 or 1991. The project, known as the North York Project, has proposed extending the northbound extension of the Toronto metro system and has recently been approved by the Toronto Metro Commission. The project calls for the Spadina line, which extends from the current Wilson station to She-pard Avenue, where a new metro station will be built. In fact, this route is planned to run 7 kilometers, carrying a daily capacity of about 35,000 people. Although the approved increase is only 1.6 kilometers in length, the budget cost about 159 million U.S. dollars. The Toronto Transit Commission has started soliciting consultants interested in conducting preliminary design of the project.
