Students may also need to take SAT subject tests in areaslike history, science and foreign language. Subject tests costeighteen dollars each. The Web site for the SAT is college-board .com.
The ACT isan achievementtest. It is de-signed to mea-sure what astudent haslearned inschool. Studentsare tested inmathematics,English, readingand science. Awriting test is offered but not required. Without it, the ACTtakes about three hours to complete. The essay part addsthirty minutes.
The ACT costs forty-nine dollars to take outside the Unit-ed States. The writing test costs an additional fourteen dol-lars. The ACT Web site is act.org.
Recent Chinese news reports suggested that ACT testingwould be expanded in China next year. But an ACTspokesman denies those reports. He tells us they werebased on a misunderstanding. He says there are no plans toincrease the number of testing centers in China. Ten centersthere offer the ACT, but students must first take trainingclasses at those centers.
The only place in China where the SAT is offered for Chi-nese students is in Hong Kong. nternational students livingin China have more choices.

每一门科目考费为18美元,SAT网站是collegeboard.com。
ACT的网站是act.orgo
