岩石的抗剪强度是岩石在剪切荷载作用下达到破坏前所能承受的最大剪应力,它的2个参数——内聚力C和内摩擦角φ,测定它们的值方法很多,如现场大型直剪、室内中型直剪、变角剪等。讨论室内中型直剪应力控制式的平推法直剪试验。得出内聚力C和内摩擦角φ,通过分析内聚力C和内摩擦角φ的变化特点,可以使岩石试验和岩体运动成为一个连续过程,岩石试验获取的数据可用于岩石工程设计。
