液压成形法大致可分为液压直接作用于坯料上和液压借助橡皮等膜状物质间接作用于材料上两大类。前一种方法有以膨凸为主的液压胀形法,以拉伸加工为主的动液成形(hydrodynamic)法、凹模充液橡皮囊成形(hydromatic for-ming)法等。后者中有代表性的是大家熟知的液压橡皮模成形(hydroform)法。所谓液体凹模成形,也就是在双动式液压橡皮模成形法中,不用橡皮膜而让液压直接作用于板坯的一种反向液压成形法,属于这类方法的还有压力润滑深拉伸法,它一般也叫凹模充液拉伸
