Objective To analyze the effect of hypoglycemia on myocardial enzymes in type 2 diabetic patients. Methods One hundred patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were divided into study group (45 cases) and control group (55 cases) according to whether hypoglycemia was complicated or not. Blood glucose, myocardial enzymes, liver and kidney function were compared between the two groups. Results Aspartate aminotransferase (AST), creatine kinase (CK) and creatine kinase (CK-MB) were higher in the study group than in the control group, with a lower blood glucose level than the control group P <0.05). Conclusions After myocardial hypoglycemia, the level of myocardial enzymes in patients significantly increased, which may induce or aggravate the original heart disease. Therefore, during the treatment of diabetes mellitus, the blood glucose should be closely monitored to avoid the adverse effects of hypoglycemia on the heart.
