磁黄铁矿是老柞山金矿的主要载金矿物 ,矿区大量产出的为早成矿期的六方磁黄铁矿 ,生成于弱还原、弱酸性的环境中 ,形成温度约 35 0℃± ,其Fe空位较大 ,晶胞参数与标准值相比较 ,a0 较大 ,c0 则较小 ,热电系数值较小 ,且数值稳定 ;晚成矿期产出的磁黄铁矿较少 ,为六方磁黄铁矿与单斜磁黄铁矿的混合物 ,形成温度小于 30 0℃
