阴阳,是中国哲学的一对范畴.其本义是指日照的向背,向日为阳,背日为阴.我国古代思想家看到一切现象都有正反两个方面,便用阴阳这个概念来解释自然界两种对立和相互消长的物质势力.《老子》说:“万物负阴抱阳”,肯定了阴阳的矛盾势力是本身固有的.《易传》的作者又进一步地提出了“一阴一阳之谓道”的学说,把阴阳交替看作是宇宙变化的根本规律.先民们还将万事万物都归于阴阳两个方面:天为阳,地为阴;日为阳,月为阴;至为阳,去为阴;动为阳,静为阴;速为阳,迟为阴;昼为阳,夜为阴等等.阴阳是一对辩证的概念:阴极而生阳,阳极而生阴
