The Canadian catwoman Anne McCorse’s “Winter Catacombs” is a novel that combines individual wounds and historical wounds, landscapes and memories. The memories of the story combined with the natural and cultural landscape make the landscape a place of political conflict and strength. The natural landscape as a place leads to the concept of a home’s space. Beginning with the scenery and memory in “Winter Catacombs”, I point out the consciousness of homeland reflected in the novel, and explain the situation that people suffer in the homeland space. I also discuss how people can feel at home in this place.
