导读:大家都知道情人节是恋人们的重要节日,那么单身的朋友又如何度过一个人的情人节呢?
Valentine’s Day is a time when people show feelings of love and friendship. It is celebrated in many ways worldwide and falls on February 14 each year. Some people take their loved ones for a romantic dinner at a restaurant while others may choose this day to propose or get married. Many people give greeting cards, chocolates, jewelry or flowers, particularly roses, to their loved ones on Valentine’s Day.
It is also a time to appreciate friends in cultures. For example, Valentine’s Day in Finland refers to “Friend’s day”, which is more about remembering all friends rather than focusing only on romance. Valentine’s Day in Guatemala is known as Day of Love and Friendship. It is similar to Valentine’s Day customs and traditions countries such as the United States but it is also a time for many to show their appreciation for their friends.
Valentine’s Day is not a public holiday in many countries, including Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States. However, restaurants, hotels and shopping centers may be busy around this time of the year.
You can celebrate your own Valentine’s Day even if you are alone.
1. Invite others that you know who are also alone and enjoy a night in the city. Do it right with dinner and a movie perhaps.
2. If you are an animal lover, take a special pet for a walk in the park. They do make heart shaped dog bones and they even have doggie ice cream. Enjoy the warmth of having that special animal and human bond.
3. You can have a long talk with your mom and send her flowers or candies with a heart-shaped card. It will be a day you both remember for a long time.
4. Take yourself on a date! Go to your favorite restaurant, watch a movie in a theater, buy yourself chocolate and flowers, do something that you’ve never done before and be deep in love with yourself.
