兴建铁路,是早期华侨投资国内建设时一项痴心不改的事业。中日甲午战争以后,清朝改变政策,“招来侨商”“振兴实业”,于是热心爱国的华侨,1905年集资创办“漳厦铁路公司”。其股本之多,对福建的影响是很大的,但是失败最惨。天时地利吸引了大规模的投资早期华侨在福建的投资,特别注重漳泉一带。有人曾做过一项调查,发现在被调查的26户企业中,只有少数几户投资在厦门及其它地方,绝大多数是在漳泉一带。譬如闻名全国的漳厦铁路,即在漳属境内。福建铁路公司成立时定名为“商办福建全省铁路有限公司”。该公司的规模是很大的,后来有人统计,在华侨投资于福建的4055个企业中,没有任何一个企
The construction of the railway was an infidelity undertaking made by overseas Chinese in their early years of investment in domestic construction. After the Sino-Japanese War of 1894, the Qing Dynasty changed its policy of “inviting overseas Chinese businessmen” and “rejuvenating the country.” So enthusiastic about patriotic overseas Chinese started fund-raising of “Zhang-xia Railway Company” in 1905. Its share capital, the impact on Fujian is great, but the worst failure.
