孔子曰:“君子谋道不谋食。耕也,馁在其中矣;学也,禄在其中矣。君子忧道不忧贫。”也就是说,君子用心求道而不费心思去求衣食。即使你亲自去耕田种地,难保不饿肚子;努力学道,却可以得到俸禄。所以,君子只担忧学不成道,不担忧贫穷。这句话讲的是人生修养的境界问题。真正的君子不是担心衣食,不是担心物质利益,而是担心自己能否修道成功。孔子常以此语警醒自己以及天下有识之士要时常提升自我修养。 Confucius said: The gentleman anxious not to worry about poverty. Even if you personally go to farming fields, it is difficult to ensure that not hungry; hard to learn, but you can get paid. Therefore, the gentleman only worry about failing to learn the way, do not worry about poverty. This sentence is about the realm of life. The real gentleman is not worried about food and clothing, not worried about the material interests, but worried about their ability to cultivate success. Confucius often wake up in this language as well as people of insight to improve self-cultivation.
