Objective: To investigate the nursing points and experiences of long-term indwelling catheter in elderly bedridden patients. Methods: Seventy-eight elderly bedridden patients undergoing catheterization were randomly divided into observation group and control group (January 2015-May 2017), with 39 patients in each group. The observation group to take targeted care, control group to implement routine care. The incidence of adverse events in the elderly patients during the period of catheterization was compared. Results: Only 1 case of ureteral compression and 1 case of leakage of urine were observed in the ambulatory patients in the observation group while the catheterization rate was 2.56%. In the control group, the incidence of catheter blockage, catheter excretion, ureteral compression, urine Tube tortuous, leakage of urine, urinary tract infections and other adverse events, the incidence of various adverse events in both groups were significantly different (P <0.05). CONCLUSIONS: It is more ideal to provide targeted nursing for elderly ambulatory patients with long-term indwelling catheters.
