This paper defines the design goals of Low Intercept Probability (LPI) radars and studies the performance characteristics of this radar. The paper also defines the LPI radar performance criteria that relate the distance the LPI radar can detect to the target’s intercept receiver’s ability to detect LPI radar distances. In this paper, the responses of various active and advanced intercept receivers to wideband LPI radar waveforms are studied. The LPI performance criterion is a function of the LPI radar time-bandwidth product and the sidelobe response, and the LPI radar estimates the performance criteria for most active and advanced intercept receivers. The blur graph function is the response of the intercepted receiver to the LPI waveform in the case of time and frequency mismatch. In this paper, the fuzzy graphs of mismatched receivers are estimated. The paper also discusses a processor that improves the frequency response of an intercepted receiver to a pulse compression radar waveform.
