1876年布利特提出的冰后期气候分期方案认为,气温比现在向上或向下各波动1~2C。1969年拉姆认为,欧洲副热带高压轴移动约10个纬度,气温比前者高3~6倍。现今世界已发现一些全新世各高温期的物候证据,特别是中国发现的热带、亚热带的各种证据,在世界上是最多的。笔者发现,海滩岩的形成不仅代表热带气候(它成岩的年平均气温达到26.5°以上),而且它的每一个沉积成岩—沉积间断周期为500a左右,继而发现全新世海滩岩断代序列模式,又引伸出全新世热带、亚热带地层断代序列模式、全新世冰川地层断代序列模式,以及海岸升降周期断代序列模式等。笔者以中国历史的物候记载为旁证,又发现了中国全新世气候变化周期也是500a左右,即寒、暖半周期各为250a左右。距今10000~3100a期间的14个高温期。海滩岩的成岩区北界从西沙群岛以南逐渐“北进”,先后扩展到粤闽浙鲁等沿海;在距今2850a以来的6个小高温期的海滩岩成岩区北界先后“南移”到浙闽琼以南地区沉积成岩。在变寒半周期间,据目前所知,北纬40°至16°(西沙)海岸、岛屿皆不成岩。在高温期的海滩岩成岩区“北进”达到20多个纬度,变寒半周期的寒冷气候“南移”20多个纬度;热带动物反映的气候,“北进”和“南移”也18个纬度左右。表明海滩岩是研究古环境古气候的
