The “Alpine Symphony” completed and performed by Richard Strauss in 1915 is an orchestral poem composed of 22 literary titles depicting nature’s oil painting. In his 48-minute poem, he combines explicit musical and horticultural depictions and places the philosophical concept of man’s adoration of nature in literary symphony.
