The average concentration of major dissolved substances in the Yangtze River (ppm) is: SiO 2 6.2; Ca 35.0; Mg 5.5; Na 9.0; K 2. 2; Cl 20; SO 4 13.5; HCO 3 127. In this study area, the major dissolved elements were controlled by physical mixing and correlated linearly with salinity, indicating conservative behavior. The article also estimates the fluxes of the major dissolved substances in the Yangtze River.
