Objective: To understand the plasma levels of ET and CGRP in patients with LC and to investigate its clinical significance. Methods: Plasma ET and CGRP levels were measured by radioimmunoassay in healthy adult and LC patients. Results: The plasma ET1 in LC group was significantly higher than that in control group (P <0.01), and CGRP was significantly lower than that in control group (P <0.01). The level of ET1 and CGRP in LC group had no significant correlation with the grade of liver function, plasma protein, ALT and AST (P> 0.05). CONCLUSION: As a vasoactive substance, ET and CGRP antagonize each other and regulate portal pressure to maintain homeostasis. The formation and development of LC portal hypertension and ET increased, CGRP decreased. To explore the relationship between the two will help to deepen the understanding of LC and its complications, help to explore new drugs to reduce portal pressure
