一九七八年十一月九日,里兹大学的考依先生~*在伦敦法语协会讲演有关高级词汇的教学问题。考依先生在讲话中首先简要地回顾了以往十多年间词汇教学的情况,进而阐明他对词汇教学现状的看法,特别谈到高级词汇教学的资料准备问题。考依先生说,直到六十年代末七十年代初,高级词汇都是任由学生通过阅读去获得的。这或多或少是因为难以提供适合教授高级词汇用的直观教具和实物。然而他认为,结构主义、行为主义学派只注重便于掌握结构与音位类型所需词汇的教学,而不重视其余任何词汇的教学,他们应对此负责。而且,结构主义的“填充式”词汇教学观忽视了词汇的偏向限制
On November 9, 1978, Mr. Cowley, of the University of Leeds, * lectured at the French-speaking Society of London on the teaching of advanced vocabulary. In his speech, Mr. Koey briefly reviewed the past ten years of lexical teaching so as to clarify his views on the status quo of lexical teaching. In particular, he talked about the preparation of materials for advanced lexical teaching. According to Mr. Cowie, advanced vocabulary was allowed to be read by students until the late 1960s and early 1970s. This is more or less because of the difficulty of providing visual aids and in-kind materials suitable for teaching advanced vocabulary. However, he argues that the structuralism and behaviorism schools should only be responsible for the teaching of lexicons that facilitate the mastery of the structure and phonological types, and not for the teaching of the rest of the vocabulary. Moreover, structuralist “stuffing” vocabulary teaching concept ignores the bias of vocabulary
