韦伯曾断言：儒家伦理与资本主义精神格极不入。然而随着东亚经济的崛起，韦伯的推断遇到了挑战。当代四位旅美新儒家余英时、成中英、杜维明、傅伟勋都对韦伯理论及韦伯式问题提出了各自的见解，都对儒家伦理的现代意义持肯定态度，并致力于儒家伦理现代化的研究，使之更好地适应现代化的需要，都为人类的发展前途提供了精神方向。 Weber once asserted: Confucian ethics and capitalist spirit are extremely inaccessible. However, with the rise of East Asia’s economy, Weber’s inference encountered a challenge. Both contemporary Chinese neo-Confucianism Yu Yingshi, Cheng Zhongying, Du Weiming and Fu Weixun put forward their own opinions on Weber’s theory and Weber’s question, both of whom hold a positive attitude towards the modern significance of Confucian ethics and devote themselves to the study of the modernization of Confucian ethics. So that it can better meet the needs of modernization, all provide a spiritual direction for the future development of mankind.
