Urban construction in Shanghai has led people to relocate to the outlying areas of the city on their own initiative or passively, with their residential differentiation and social differentiation gradually appearing. In this paper, the relocation of three types of relocated, select relocated, passive placement of residents for the study of resident relocation and the impact of social mobility. The result shows that the active residents who have higher incomes are the biggest beneficiaries of urban reconstruction. The resettlement of residents with lower incomes over long distances has improved housing conditions, but the inconvenience of traffic travel has seriously damaged their social welfare and social polarization has worsened. Therefore, cities should make overall consideration to improve their travel together when formulating resettlement and housing policies.
