As a first step in oil exploration in the Taiwan Strait, a well test well was drilled in the Penghu Islands in 1966 to understand the age, stratum thickness, lithology, geological structure and sedimentary rocks beneath the Strait. Tongliang formation test drilling (known as Tongli TL-1 well) was started on October 15, 1966 and stopped drilling on December 7 of the same year. Drilling was carried out at about 850 ℃ northeast of Tongliang Village on the ground of 5.78 meters above sea level Rice Department (Figure 1). The well drilled to a depth of 899 meters, but no oil and gas. This well not only provided important information about the underground geology in the Penghu area, but also clarified the relationship between the Penghu area and the North Harbor area
