Me and my students at the University of California studied some of the skills that have changed themselves over two thousand years and found that many of the major methods were proposed by religious leaders, philosophers, psychologists and psychiatrists. We also looked at many of the scientific literature that changed ourselves and found that the earliest in-depth study of this problem was started by behavioral scientists in the 1960s.
