春天,是许许多多花灌木展现自己的亮丽和灿烂的时刻。万紫千红中,白鹃梅是极其清雅而秀美的一种。白鹃梅又名金瓜果、茧子花,是蔷薇科白鹃梅属植物。多生长于浙江、江苏、江西、湖北等地海拔500米的低山阳坡和砂砾地灌木丛中。落叶灌木,有的可长成4～5米的小乔木。枝条为褐色,具棱。单叶互生,椭圆形或卵状椭圆形,全缘或上部有锐锯齿。顶生总状的花序有6～10朵白花,花期4～5月。果实为倒卵形或球形蒴果,8～9月成熟。在园林中,我们还可见到其他栽培品种如:齿叶白鹃梅(Exochorda serratifolia),叶片中部以上有锐锯齿,在本属中耐寒耐旱力最强,主要产自辽宁及华北各省区;红柄白鹃
