2008—2010年对杨白潜叶蛾(Leucoptera susinellaHerrich-Schaffer)生物学特性进行研究后发现,杨白潜叶蛾在河南省濮阳地区1a发生5代,代数比较整齐。以蛹茧主要在树干粗皮缝内、落叶等处越冬。翌年4月中旬越冬代成虫羽化,成虫羽化后当天即开始交尾产卵,每头雌蛾产卵26~78粒,产于杨树叶片正面,90%在侧脉旁。孵化后幼虫直接钻入叶片内潜食叶肉危害,被害处呈黑褐色虫斑,之后叶组织枯焦。幼虫老熟后有吐丝下垂习性。9月上中旬第5代老熟幼虫开始结茧化蛹并越冬。各虫态发育历期随季节变化差异较大。成虫具趋光性,♀♂比为1∶0.93。幼虫期天敌有寄生蜂3种,其中寄生率最高的一种为杨白潜叶蛾绒茧蜂(Apanteles SP)。
