Katherine Mansfield’s “Garden Club” depicts two different kinds of beauty: external beauty and inner beauty. The outermost beauty lies in the preparation of the garden, the bright weather and the pleasant mood of the people; the inner beauty is fully demonstrated at the moment when the body appears at the end of the story. This article discusses the two different kinds of beauty presented in the novel, and from the perspective of Laura, it profoundly explores the profound impact of this intense comparison of life and death on the hero Laura.
