In The History of Rasselas: Prince of Abyssinia, author Samuel Johnson shows the reader an East under the influence of Western ideology Panorama of the world. The seemingly neutral attitude of the author does not obscure what he believes is the attitude of Western superiority and despicable orientalism. This essay analyzes from the perspective of Orientalism of Edward Said, a research expert of Oriental Studies, to prove that novelist Johansen fictionalized the despicable other for the establishment of Western superior self-concept Image, for the West to achieve the ambition to rule the world provide a favorable basis.
