Descartes explores the causes of cognitive errors in the fourth contemplation of “The First Philosophical Contemplation,” and argues that improper use of will power is the root cause of cognitive gaps, that is, the ability of his own will to judge the likely object The misjudgment made by the attribute is the profound difference of all kinds of cognition deviation, and the fundamental way to avoid the error is to clarify the fetters between the will and the intellect. Although this meditating thought of Descartes is thought-provoking, it is worth considering again on the issues of the division of reason and volition, the determination of the rules of truth, and the true source of the error. In this connection, the true “source of error” seems to have gone beyond Descartes’ “I think” vision and needs to be examined in a more complex context of existence.
