Objective To investigate the relationship between serum uric acid (SUA) and microvascular complications in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and its possible mechanism. Methods 980 patients with T2DM were collected and divided into hyperuricemia group (HUA) and normal uric acid group (NUA) according to the level of serum uric acid. The main clinical indexes and microvascular complications were compared between the two groups. Results There were significant differences in body mass index (BMI), triglyceride (TG), high density cholesterol (HDL), blood pressure and creatinine between the two groups. The incidence of diabetic nephropathy, diabetic retinopathy and diabetic peripheral neuropathy in HUA group All higher than NUA group, the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion The incidence of microvascular complications in T2DM patients with hyperuricemia is higher.
