The structure and characteristics of the steam atomizer used in the Hi-vap system of the converter furnace for vapor cooling were analyzed and experimentally studied. Experiments include flow-pressure characteristics, fogging angle, flow density distribution, water fog coverage and droplet diameter testing. The results provide the basis for optimizing nozzle layout
