The flow resistance and heat transfer performance of a millimeter-sized short pin-fin array channel were studied experimentally. The friction factor, the average Nusselt number and the overall thermal performance parameters were obtained. The results show that under the condition of swirling flow, the short pin-fin array can significantly enhance convective heat transfer, but also significantly improve the frictional resistance. The experimental results are compared with the experimental results of flow and heat transfer in short needle-finned arrays in the literature. In this experiment, the arrangement of short and small pin-fin arrays improves the heat transfer performance by more than 68% under the condition of swirling flow, and the overall thermal performance Increase by 11% or more.
