马尔蒂尼(Martini)、马里尼(Marini)和曼祖(Mangu)这三位名字都以字母“M”为首的雕刻巨匠,被认为是意大利现代雕刻的始祖。 曼祖作为意大利现代雕刻始祖之一,以其独具特色的雕刻艺术创作,成为闻名遐迩的世界级雕刻大师。曼祖1908年12月22日生于贝尔加莫,排行十二,因家里生活拮据,从11岁起就跟随木雕师学艺,受到艺术的熏陶,被绘画、雕刻所吸引。在做工之余,致力于素描学习,19岁踏上雕刻之路。主要作品有《受胎告知》、《枢机卿》、《坐在椅子上的少女》、《静物》等。曼祖的雕刻作品别具一格,造型准确,充满人间情爱,具有芳醇的美感。 曼祖曾几次到日本举办画展,轰动很大。他的雕刻作品深受日本人民的喜爱,尤其是其作品中的人性体现,古典与现实的巧妙溶合,周围空间与素材的一体感,令人惊叹的心
