作为金融发展的重要标志,金融中介机构的扩张反映了金融需求市场的变化。追求利润最大化的金融中介机构通过增加分支机构的数量以扩大自身网络来竞争存款,不断密集的金融中介网络降低了交易成本,提高了社会储蓄水平并促进了经济增长。本文运用1952~2004年年度数据检验了金融分支机构的数量、存款余额和经济增长之间的关系,实证结果表明金融中介数量的增加和经济增长是互为因果的,金融中介数量、存款余额和经济增长三者在样本期内存在长期稳定的正向关系。
As an important indicator of financial development, the expansion of financial intermediaries reflects the changes in the financial demand market. Financial intermediaries that seek to maximize profits compete for deposits by expanding their networks by increasing the number of branches, an ever-tighter financial intermediation network that reduces transaction costs, raises social savings levels and promotes economic growth. This paper uses the annual data from 1952 to 2004 to test the relationship between the number of financial branches, deposit balance and economic growth. Empirical results show that the increase in the number of financial intermediaries and economic growth are mutually causal. The number of financial intermediaries, the balance of deposits and The three economic growth in the sample period there is a long-term and stable positive relationship.
