中国革命是沿着农村包围城市、武装夺取政权的道路一步一步地走向胜利的。在这一过程中,农民教育成为贯彻始终的一种运动和一种手段。毛泽东等老一辈革命家在领导农村革命根据地长达20年的实践中,把马克思列宁主义的教育理论,与中国农村经济、文化落后的国情及农民的思想实际结合起来,形成了一整套农民教育的理论和政策。由于中国革命的具体实际,毛泽东农民教育思想在其教育思想中占据了核心地位,它对当代农村成人教育、职业教育体制的改革具有重要的指导意义。
