孟子交往论美学是一个完备的理论体系,其中交往的可能性和普遍性是基于“仁为人心”的心性论基础,主体成仁向善的道德交往实践是一种愉悦的审美体验。礼乐的内在本质为仁义,外在呈现为威仪、节奏,《诗》蕴含仁义内涵,礼、乐、《诗》的交往实质是理义的交流。孟子还将交往推及至社会政治层面,“与民同乐”的思想体现了其独特的政治交往美学内涵。“以意逆志”的交往实质是审美还原到本心的交往交流。
