孕镶人造金刚石钻头在弱研磨性的中硬以软的岩层中(如结晶灰岩、灰岩、白云岩及泥质页岩等)钻进,其小时效率比较低,一般在1.0~1.4米/时左右.当使用软胎体钻头钻进时,钻头寿命又较短;胎体稍硬一点(如HRC35以上),钻进效率又不高;胎体太硬(如HRC45以上)金刚石又不易被磨出刃来,以致出现所谓的“打滑”.根据上述情况,现场工人采用“硬磨软打”的方法,即在研磨性岩层中钻进一段,使钻头上的金刚石磨出刃来,然后在软岩中打进尺,这样既提高了钻进速度,又延长了钻头寿命.
