一九七九年六月我被派往英国工作,那正是撒切尔夫人第一次赢得大选胜利之后不久。虽然我未能赶上那次竞选的盛况,但在英伦三岛的五年记者生涯却是在这位女首相执政期间度过的。我曾在许多不同的场合,目睹撒切尔夫人衣着入时、仪态端庄的风度,听过她能言善辩、机智敏捷的口才。特别是她那被褒者誉为“意志刚强、处事果断”,而被贬者贵之为“强硬而独断专行”的“铁夫人”作风,则不但时有所闻,也常有所见。 然而,作为一名中国的女记者,我要赞扬撒切尔夫人为促进中英两国的友好关系,发展两国经济贸易所采取的积极,明智的态度。对她虽然身居要职却仍然保持着家庭主妇的贤淑本色,我也深表敬佩。 I was sent to work in England in June 1979, shortly after Mrs Thatcher first won the election. Although I failed to keep up with the campaign, the five-year journalist career on the British Isles was spent during the country’s prime minister’s administration. On many occasions, I have witnessed Mrs. Thatcher’s dignified mannerism, her eloquent dexterity and witty eloquence. In particular, her praised as “strong-willed, decisive things”, and derogatory expensive as “tough and arbitrary” of the “iron lady” style, it is not only heard, but also often see. However, as a Chinese female journalist, I would like to commend Mrs Thatcher for her positive and wise attitude in promoting the friendly relations between China and Britain and the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. Although she is still in the important position of a housewife, she still has the virtuous character, I also deeply admire.
