I. Overview One of the basic objectives of seismic engineering research is to minimize the damage to various types of structural facilities and personnel casualties during a destructive earthquake. For this reason, researchers from various countries have made untiring efforts on various issues. Over the years, researchers in various earthquake-prone countries have made various attempts in structural isolation and shock absorption research, and have made some gratifying achievements.
